Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) together with the Police have embarked on an operation to evict all Batembeyi (Hawkers), Mobile Vendors and mobile money kiosks from the streets of Kampala in a campaign of decongesting the city.

The operations started On Monday when KCCA removed kiosks from the Central Business District and the outskirts of Kampala in Ndeeba along Entebbe road.

Getting a mobile money kiosk permit from the City Authority through its Physical Planning Directorate costs UGx 550,000 to set up the kiosks.

The Deputy Spokesperson of KCCA, Robert Kalumba said the operation is intended to enforce order in the city, adding that the kiosks were established illegally. Last week, the Kampala Resident City Commissioner-RCC Hud Hussein ordered street vendors to vacate latest January Sunday 16th, 2022.
