The Uganda National Drugs Authority banned the sale of M-Magix coffee after it was confirmed that the said coffee contains strains of Viagra, an ingredient used to cure erectile dysfunction.
Just a day after NDA announced the ban on the drug, it is reported that the demand for the M-Magix Coffee increased as sellers reported that more people were looking for it.
Most of the people looking for it were youths between the age 18-30 according to one pharmacist who asked for anonymity.
Others who couldn’t find the M-Magix Coffee in the nearby shops rushed to online stores to purchase drug. C2C Classifieds website Jiji Uganda took the largest share of curious men who were ordering for the drink from the website.
The coffee is priced at 30,000 by retailers on Jiji Uganda.
The coffee is imported by Dweyx International located along Dewinton road opposite National Theater.
M-Magix coffee is sold as a box containing sachets. According to the description of the product found on the website of the importers, the beverage is taken by mixing the coffee in a 150ml cup of water or milk. The product is advertised as being able to last in the body system for 72 hours. The product comes as either coffee or capsules.
National Drugs Authority announced on Tuesday that they are going to launch a national wide enforcement campaign to penalize pharmacies that will be found selling M-Magix coffee.
