Uganda Cranes have played to a barren stalemate with West Africa's giants Mali FC in a World Cup Qualifiers (WQC) match played at a wet St. Mary's Stadium, Kitende on Monday 6tj September,2021.

It is a second goalless draw for the Uganda Cranes who also played to a fruitless result against Kenya at Nyayo International Stadium, Nairobi Kenya four days ago.

Uganda currently stand third in group E with 2 points from as many matches level on with Kenya but the 'Harambe Stars' stand second, for they scored a goal in their one all stalemate against Rwanda in a match played on Sunday 5th September,2021 in Kigali.

Uganda had a less fit striker and skipper Emmanuel Okwi and Vipers captain Halid Lwaliwa had not returned to full fitness after sustaining injuries in the last match whereas things got worse when Murushid Juuko got matching orders with 25 minutes to play for. This left Uganda Cranes a very vulnerable side that earning a point seems so vital.

Uganda plays the third game against Rwanda on 6th October, 2021 still at St.Mary's stadium,Kitende and will be in must win situation in order to have some hopes for the third round.

There are five slots for the African continent and on this second round, 40 teams still vie for the them. They (40 teams) are grouped in ten groups of four teams, with group winners only advancing to the third and last round of qualifications.

In the third round, the ten group winners will play each other on a two legged basis and the winners will qualify for the Qatar World Cup 2022.
