The Uganda National team, the Cranes' Head coach Abdullah Mubiru named senior player Emmanuel Okwi as the new Uganda Cranes team Captain.

The development comes after the former Uganda Cranes Captain but currently Mamelodi Sundowns player Dennis Onyango announced his retirement from national football following what he called Magogo's disrespect for national team players. It should be remembered Magogo said the players in CHAN played "Shitty" football, a statement Onyango didn't like and hence retired.

Onyango's replacement Okwi, plays as a winger for Egypt's top tier side Al Ittihad Alexandria Club.

This Okwi had to say upon appointment: "Representing Uganda is a privilege that I don't take for granted"
