URA FC, Vipers and Express FC Keep UPL Title Race Going with Wins on Match 24 Continued

It seems the Uganda Premier League (UPL)title race will go till the last days of the season as all sides won their respective matches against Police, UPDF and SC Villa.

Vipers SC had the sweetest win having visited rivals SC Villa at Bombo Military Barracks Grounds and won 3:1. Bobosi Byaruhanga (27'), Yunus Ssentamu (33') and Paul Mucureezi (67') scored for the Venoms to keep pace with URA in chasing for this season's league title.

Said Keni pulled one for the Joggos, a wonderful long ball from the goalkeeper who seemed to be crossing for headers to head but only to see the ball enter Vipers' net in the 70th minute.

Vipers' midfielder Paul Mucureezi was named man of the match after his goal and assist inspired the Venoms to a vital win against their usual foe.

SC Vipers remain second on the table with 53 points, one adrift of table leaders URA FC who also won with the same score against Police FC. Steven Mukwala who was also named man of the match scored URA's first in the 34th minute, Joachim Ojera added the second goal two minutes into second half and Cromwel Rwothomio notched the third on the 61st minute mark. Kizito Fahad consoled the visitors in the 87th minute but it was too late to push for other goals to salvage at least a point for the Cops.

At Wankulukuku Stadium, an Eric Kambale 22nd minute strike gave Express FC the sweet win against the UPDF soldiers to keep hopes for a first league title since 2012 arrive. The win meant Express reached the 50th points mark with 52, the 8th home league win and 15th overall. Express are third on the table with 52 points one behind second placed Vipers and two behind table leaders URA FC.

Soltilo Bright Stars visited BUL FC at Kyabazinga Stadium-Bugembe in Jinja and won 1:0 with Derrick Ngobi extending Bright Stars' unbeaten run to eight matches, seven wins and one draw.

At Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara, Mbarara City FC beat visitors Onduparaka 2:1. Henry Kitegenyi and Bashir Mutanda scored for the home team as Living Kabon pulled one for "Caterpillars."
