Stanbic Uganda Cup Cancelled, Sponsors Confirm Clubs to Be Given 60Million

FUFA has called off the Stanbic Uganda Cup 2019/2020 season after the continued restrictions to the game of sport brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a Press conference that convened at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, Stanbic Bank re-presented by Daniel Ogong the Stanbic Bank Marketing Manager, said despite the cancellation of the tournament, they won't hesitate giving out the prize money.

This press conference was attended by the FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, FUFA Executive Committee Member Hamid Juma, FUFA Deputy CEO- Football Decolas Kiiza and the communications director Ahmed Hussein.

They therefore provided that the season will have no champion but the 60MUgx will be shared amongst the teams according to how far they had gone by the time of closing sports.

The failure to get the Stanbic Uganda Cup winner this time round means KCCA FC, selected by FUFA executive committee will represent Uganda in the CAF confederation Cup in the up coming season.

Prize Money for the Cancelled 2019/20 season will be paid out as follows:

The 6 teams that qualified for the Quarter Finals will each receive UGX 6 million:

1. Proline FC

2. KCCA FC

3. Kyetume FC

4. Light SS FC

5. Kitara FC

6. Kataka FC

The 6 teams that were knocked out at the Round of 16 will each receive UGX 3 million:

1. Kiboga Young FC

2. Dove FC

3. Maroons FC

4. UPDF FC

5. Tooro Utd FC

6. Free Stars FC

And the 4 teams that were yet to play their Round of 16 matches will share the prize money for their ties. Each will receive UGX 1.5 million:

1. URA vs Wakiso Giants

2. SC Villa vs Mbarara City
