All eyes of Ugandans and and the entire sports fraternity on globe especially those of athletics lovers will be on their screen to see who wins the NN Valencia World Record Day.
Cheptegei, a favorite for tonight's event comes into the race backed up by the previous victories that saw him win the Monaco Diamond league in France in August 2020 when he also beat Kenenisa Bekele's 16 year old 5,000m world record held by Kenenisa Bekele. Cheptegei clocked only 12 minutes 35.36 seconds compared to Bekele's 12:37.35 in 2004.
The event will take place at the Turia Stadium in Valencia, Spain from 10:45pm to 11:45pm. Record breaking genius Joshua Cheptegei will be hoping for taking on Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele's 15-year-old men’s 10,000m world record, which stands at 26 minutes 17.53 seconds.
In the women's race, Ethiopia's Letesenbet Gidey will attempt to set a new women’s 5,000m world currently held by Ethiopia's Tirunesh Dibaba (14:11.15).
