City socialite Bad Black, whose real name is Shanitah Namuyimbwa believes she is a “legendary celebrity” within the Ugandan entertainment industry and is currently greater than all the surviving musicians within the country today.

While appearing on an entertainment show as a panelist over the weekend, the socialite and social media influencer Bad Black revealed that she believes that she may be a legendary celebrity and nobody can claim otherwise.

In her argument, Bad Black noted that celebrities from abroad are very different from those in Africa. She noted that in Uganda particularly, once one gets attention on social media, people mistake them for celebrities which to her is wrong.

“I believe I’m the proper description of a star. I came into the limelight in 2009 and then I became a hot topic. But Ugandans always destroy the culture, even if you undressed and bathed at the taxi park, they will still think of you as a star,” she explained.

Black also explained how she is bigger than all currently trending artists locally and explained how all the folks that attack her are always aiming at achieving celebrity status. This is an interesting point to make, especially during the current scenario, where the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that more and more people have gone online to try and continue their business.

This is true for musicians as well, who have seen their earnings fall drastically as live shows and concerts have been cancelled. Therefore, there has been a steep rise in the number of musicians and artists who have been using the likes of YouTube, Instagram Live and Twitch to put on concerts and performances for their fans, as well as to connect with them.

At the same time, customers and regular people have also switched to online forms of entertainment, with the best live online casinos seeing a surge in business since the pandemic, as land-based casinos have had to shut down. This is just one example of a traditional sector going online to stay relevant and to provide its customers with the products and services that they need. As Black has said, many people are also going online to try and become celebrities by doing stuff on social media, and attacking her seems like one of the quickest ways to get into the spotlight.

The self-appointed Queen of Snapchat also claimed how she dominates the news cycle in Uganda with trending stories for a full week whenever she does anything, and hence she deserves the fame and celebrity status that she has been enjoying. ‘Mama Jona’, as she is also known, has previously been in the news for her bleaching woes after several years of enjoying the transformation. The former socialite used her Snapchat account to state that she has learnt through the experience that the pain she is going through at the moment was not worth the final result.

“Every painful experience gives you a lesson but nobody learns. Only wise people learn and alter for the higher thereupon experience,” he shared. Bad Black was one among the primary Ugandan public figures who came out and admitted to bleaching back in the day, but it seems as though karma has caught up with her.

For those that saw her before she defrauded huge chunks of cash from her white pensioner can attest to her skin transformation. Everything changed when she flew to Dubai where she spent a lot of time and money on changing her skin colour. However, a fortnight ago, ‘Mama Jona’ revealed how she was currently living in pain as her skin turned from brown to red, and also became really vulnerable to all types of skin problems. She later shared a photograph of her bruised eye, a side effect of the excessive bleaching.
