Ambrose Kirya lone strike helps SC Villa edge past Onduparaka FC

Match day 22 continued today Wednesday 19th February, 2020 and witnessed 15 goals scored across the day's four fixtures.

The day's major fixture was between third placed SC Villa and sixth Onduparaka. The former won the clash at Namboole, thanks to a lone strike from Ambrose Kirya in the 49th minute.

Onduparaka who were looking for a return to winning ways after slipping to a 1:0 home loss to Express FC in their most recent league fixture were subjected to another fate. The team also exited the Uganda Cup at the round of 64 when they were beaten by Bugamba.

Onduparaka remain sixth after BUL FC and Mbarara all slipped in the other day's fixtures whereas SC Villa also remained third but reduced KCCA's lead in second to only five points with eight matches to go.

At the Mighty Arena in Jinja, Kyetume FC were 4:3 winners against Mbarara City. Robert Ssentongo scored twice 7', 90+2', Vincent Kayizzi 11', Feni Ali 67' to hand the Jackson Mayanja's side a deserved win.

Mbarara city scored through Brian Aheebwa's brace 8' and 39' and Solomon Okwalinga's 59th minute strike had handed the Ankole lions a 3:2 lead until Feni Ali and Robert Ssentongo scored more other two goals for the home side to emerge victors of the tie.

Relegation threatened Proline FC were red hot at the Star Times Stadium-Lugogo as they put 3 goals past BUL FC who score once.

Proline scored through Mujuzi Mustafa 16' and a brace from Mato Rogers in the 47th and 76th minute with BUL FC's consolation coming from Ssemujju Joseph who scored the match's opener in the first minute.

At Kavumba Recreation Stadium, Express FC under their new coach Wasswa Bbosa continued the impressive form as they beat Tooro United 2:1. Goals from Frank Ssenyondo and Frank Kalanda in the 2nd and 38th minutes respectively gave the Red Army a deserved win as Mike Kawooya pulled a consolation for Tooro United. Wasswa Bbosa's side also beat Onduparaka 1:0 in their most recent league fixture in Arua.

Action continues on Friday with two Fixtures. Sam Ssimbwa's URA FC will host table leaders and title favorites Vipers SC. Another encounter will be between Maroons as they host URA FC conquerors Busoga United.
