The 69th annual edition of the Miss World competition that went down at a ceremony in London last Saturday saw Jamaican psychology student Toni-Ann Singh (23) crowned Miss World 2019 with Miss France and Miss India finishing as runners-up in the beauty pageant.

Singh was crowned by last year's winner, Mexican Vanessa Ponce de Leone.

The competition that had over 115 contestants from allover the world yearning for the top most crown saw our own Ugandan beauty queen Olive Nakakande finish just in the top 40 overall of the entire contestants.

21 year old Miss Nigeria Nyekachi Douglas was crowned Miss World Africa and the Public Health student from Southern Nigeria replaced the 2018 winner of the comtinental crown, Miss Uganda 2018, Quinn Abenakyo.

Singh is the fourth Jamaican to win the title. France's Ophely Mezino and India's Suman Rao were the top runners-up respectively.

Miss World's oldest running international beauty pageant, Miss World brings together beauty queens from allover the world. Besides the main winner, continental queens are also announced at the end of the contest.

The victory of Miss Jamaica comes less than a week after South African Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe in Atlanta, USA.
