Veteran media personality Flavia Tumusiime has been appointed the new Head of Broadcast at Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda, a strategic leadership role that will see her oversee the group’s flagship radio and television brands, including NTV Uganda, Spark TV, KFM, and Dembe FM, according to reports.

The 36-year-old broadcast star takes over the new position following the scrapping of the General Manager TV role, previously held by Johnson Omollo, who recently exited the company. Flavia reportedly pursued the newly created role as NMG restructures its media operations amid talent reshuffles and efforts to revitalize Dembe FM, which had been temporarily closed.

Flavia’s appointment marks a major milestone in her illustrious media career, which began at just 14 years old as a host of Teen’s Club on WBS TV. By 18, she had ventured into radio with Hot100FM, before joining Capital FM in 2006. Her career highlights also include a stint on Channel O, where she worked for around four years, and a significant chapter at NTV Uganda, where she anchored the news and hosted a morning show from 2015 until her departure in May 2021.

Since leaving NTV, Flavia has been hosting the legendary Desert Island Discs on Capital FM, after previously leading their mid-morning show. Her return to NMG in a senior leadership capacity represents not just a personal win, but a signal of fresh vision for one of Uganda’s biggest media houses.

Flavia confirmed the news in a heartfelt post on her social media, writing:

God has chosen a new path this year, and I'm glad to answer the call. Television and radio gave me a career worth being proud of, and I'm glad to find my way back in this way — to grow not just the industry but also the talent to continue the journey.
I pray that I have your support on this new chapter as you've supported me at every endeavor and pivot over the years.”
