Ugandan music heavyweight Bebe Cool has officially released Circumference, the lead single from his much-awaited album Break the Chains. The track hit streaming platforms today as his first musical release in over a year.
Produced by Nigeria's Philip Chukwuka Ahaiwe and Uganda's Kagoda George Bush, with expert mixing by Jesse Ray Ernester and mastering by Gerhard Westphalen, Circumference showcases an intricate fusion of Afrobeat rhythms and modern production.
The track is a revolution to Bebe Cool’s dedication to musical innovation, elevating his signature Afro-fusion style to new heights.
PhilKeyz is not a new name on the Afrobeats scene, having worked with artists such as Kizz Daniels on songs such as Lie, Nesesari, and the 2023 viral single Cough.
Bebe Cool’s Circumference has been received relatively well by a larger audience from his usual fans.
Many music lovers have taken to their social media channels and shared videos or screengrabs of themselves listening to the song.
“I have just listened to Circumference by Bebe Cool and I think the song is good though too short,” shared a fan on X (formerly Twitter).
Circumference premiered at a time Ugandan music is at crossroads over the sheer lack of quality and depth, with some leaders calling media houses to ban songs by some artists over vulgar material.
While announcing Circumference, Bebe Cool remarked that this was a beginning of a new dawn, with music that is not only safe but will take Uganda places.
"I’m doing this purely out of love. I have challenged myself to push boundaries with a new sound and professionalism that sets the bar where it should be.
This is an exciting time for the Ugandan music industry, because I’m here to set a new standard—the standard—of what it means to be an African music legend,” Bebe Cool said.
“This is the beginning of an exciting chapter,” he shared in a recent statement. “Circumference is a glimpse into the story we’re telling through Break the Chains—a project born out of passion, resilience, and my love for music.”
The track, released under Gagamel International, is available for streaming on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay, and Audiomack. Fans are eagerly awaiting what else the album has in store as Circumference sets the stage for what could be a groundbreaking project.
