Songstress Spice Diana has shed light on the long delays in releasing her much-anticipated collaborations with Tanzanian music giant Diamond Platnumz. According to the singer, financial constraints are the main obstacle, and unwanted “mpako mpako” advances.

Spice Diana, who first connected with the Wasafi Records family in 2021 and collaborated with Zuchu on the song Upendo, disclosed that despite recording several songs with Diamond, the high cost of production has stalled the release of their first music video.

We have more than one song, we have many songs, but sometimes it’s the money. To have a video that matches his standards is expensive,” Spice Diana explained.

She emphasized that working with an artist of Diamond’s stature, who commands around $100,000 per performance in Uganda, comes with a hefty price tag. For their collaboration, the estimated production cost of the music video is around $50,000, a challenging amount for the Ugandan music industry compared to Tanzania’s.

Beyond the financial hurdles, Spice Diana also highlighted another harsh reality of the industry—some artists are willing to lower their rates but might expect favors in return, including sexual advances. However, she made it clear that such propositions are completely unacceptable to her.

Despite these challenges, fans remain hopeful that Spice Diana and Diamond Platnumz’s collaboration will soon come to fruition, as the singer continues to work towards meeting the necessary standards.
