It looks like 2025 is shaping up to be a major milestone year for Ykee Benda, not just in his music career but also in his personal life as the Mpaka Records boss and self-proclaimed "Kireka Boy" has revealed plans to finally put a ring on it and marry his girlfriend next year.
Speaking out in an interview with a Local TV Station, the 32-year-old artist emphasized that while music has been at the center of his life, personal growth and family are just as crucial.
Ykee, known for hits like "Muna Kampala" and his distinctive fusion of Afrobeat and pop, explained his vision for 2025.
"Getting married is also important. We can’t just do concerts all the time. At some point, you need to build that other side of life because music isn’t forever. Who will stay with you when you’re old? That’s what really matters,.. Julie and I have worked through our issues, and now we’re great friends. We’ve found a way to balance it all, and Dante is growing up well" he shared.
Ykee Benda introduced his current flame, Emily, to the public in 2023, after his much-publicized split from Julie Batenga, his former fiancée and mother of his son, Dante. Their breakup wasn’t the smoothest, especially since Julie was pregnant at the time, but Ykee says the co-parenting situation has been handled with maturity. He remains a hands-on father despite his hectic schedule and often sees Dante at least twice a month.
He’s even offered a bit of sage advice to his fellow men: "If you invite me to your wedding, and I spend my money and day celebrating you, then find out you're cheating, I will tell your wife!" Ykee jokingly remarked.
