A UPDF soldier and a Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) staff member were tragically shot dead in Buddo, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District in the evening hours of Tuesday 23rd July along  Masaka Road, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

According to sources, the victims were traveling in a vehicle with registration number UAK 375U when a gunman on a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) ambushed them and opened fire. The attack, which happened around 9 pm, also left a nearby food vendor injured, adding to the evening's horror.

The vehicle was being driven by the deceased army officer, making the attack even more brazen and unsettling. While the identity of the URA staff member remains unconfirmed, the loss has already sent ripples through both the military and civilian sectors.

This tragic event unfolded on the same day that heightened security measures were in place across the Kampala Metropolitan Area to prevent a youth-led anti-corruption protest march to Parliament. The increased police presence was meant to deter unrest, but it couldn't prevent the violence that erupted in Kyengera.

As investigations continue, the community grapples with the aftermath of this senseless act of violence, hoping for swift justice and peace.
