Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II finally returned to Uganda after Namibia declined to extend his stay for medical treatment. The beloved monarch had been in Namibia since April 14, 2024, for health reasons but was sneaked back home without crowds gathering for a warm welcome.

Arriving on an Ethiopian Airlines flight, the Kabaka touched down at Entebbe Airport around 11 PM. He was greeted with open arms by Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, members of the royal family, and Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda, marking a significant moment for the Buganda Kingdom.

In a statement to the media, Premier Mayiga shed light on the monarch’s medical journey.

“The decision to take Kabaka to Namibia was based on the best medical advice we received for his recovery,” he said. He assured the public that the Kabaka’s recovery is progressing well and urged everyone to remain patient and supportive as the Kabaka continues to follow his medical team’s guidance.

The Kabaka’s return has brought a wave of relief and joy across the kingdom, with many looking forward to his continued recovery and future public appearances.
