Thousands of devout Muslims gathered at the Igenge Palace in Bugembe town for the Royal Juma Prayers hosted by Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV and Inhebantu Jovia Mutesi. This auspicious occasion, just days before the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, marked a historic milestone for the Busoga Kingdom.

As the sun rose over Bugembe, Muslim faithful began their pilgrimage to the hill as early as 9 am, donned in traditional Muslim attire. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as Deputy Mufti of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Shk Ali Waiswa, led prayers (Dua) to bless the royal couple and pray for the prosperity of the Busoga Kingdom. This event holds particular significance as it marks the last Juma Prayers of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Dr. Joseph Muvawala, the kingdom premier, expressed that this day was dedicated to seeking divine guidance for the challenges facing the region, emphasizing the unity and strength that such gatherings foster. Notably, this event also signifies the first prayers held within the Palace since its inception.

The Juma Prayers were not only open to the public but also extended invitations to political leaders of Busoga sub-region and government officials. The support of telecom giants MTN Uganda added a generous touch, with expectations of distributing hampers to the Muslim faithful.

Following the Juma Prayers, a grand Kyabazinga Iftar dinner is scheduled to take place at Jinja's Civil Service College on April 6, 2024. This exclusive event, organized by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Ms. Rebecca Kadaga, in collaboration with the Turkish embassy, will host invited guests.

This occasion holds a special place in Busoga's history as it marks the first official prayers since the marriage of Kyabazinga and Inhebantu Jovia Mutesi on November 18, 2023. It was an opportunity for the Kyabazinga to formally introduce his consort to the believers, solidifying their union amidst the support and blessings of the Muslim community.
