In a move aimed at improving emergency response services within the city, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has stepped up to support the Uganda Police by donating two essential fire trucks. The handover ceremony, held at the city hall, saw the official transfer of these fire trucks to the Director of Fire Services, AIGP Joseph Mugisa.
The donation underscores KCCA's commitment to creating a smarter city while reinforcing the expertise of the police force in managing fire and rescue incidents. Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka emphasized the importance of this contribution, stating, "We recognize the immediate need to support the police in their crucial role as experts in fire and rescue services."
AIGP Joseph Mugisa expressed gratitude on behalf of the Uganda Police, highlighting the operational advantages of the mid-sized trucks.
"These small-sized trucks will maneuver quickly and respond effectively, particularly in areas where our larger trucks encounter difficulties. They will play a crucial role in containing fires swiftly while larger units join the efforts," he remarked.
This isn't the first instance of KCCA extending support to the Uganda Police in bolstering emergency response capabilities.
The event saw the presence of key figures such as AIGP Richard Edyegu, the Director of Logistics and Engineering, signaling the significance of collaboration between KCCA and the Uganda Police in ensuring public safety during emergencies.
The Uganda Police's Directorate of Fire and Rescue Services is instrumental in fire prevention, education, and actively participates in national disaster management efforts. This collaborative effort between KCCA and the Uganda Police underscores a shared commitment to safeguarding the city's residents and properties during crises.
