Renowned singer Vyroota is in hot water following a controversial performance at a high school, where he entertained underage students over the weekend. The singer's onstage attire, characterized by a shirtless appearance and trousers sagging below his buttocks, has incited widespread backlash on various social media platforms.
During the performance, captured on video, Vyroota can be seen embracing young girls while in this state of undress, prompting outrage among viewers. Critics have expressed astonishment at the singer's disregard for appropriate attire, particularly given the youthful demographic of his audience.
Reflecting on the incident, BBS journalist Culton Scovia Nakamya remarked, "Ironically, these schools prohibit women wearing trousers from accessing their premises, citing indecent dressing and upholding standards of smartness. See what smartness means when it comes to entertainment."
Social media erupted with condemnation, with users demanding action from the Ministry of Education and Sports to hold both the singer and the school accountable for what they perceive as reckless behavior. User Godfrey Kuteesa expressed outrage, stating, "Ministry of @Educ_SportsUg what bunch of nonsense is this? You must reign on schools and stop this foolery. Enforce policies that keep people’s children safe. Find this school and hold the heads accountable!! Schools are not discotheques!! Look at the bipale-pale byona bikyaafu."
This incident is not an isolated one, as several Ugandan musicians have previously faced criticism for failing to adhere to established guidelines for performing for minors. In response, the government implemented a ban on such performances, citing concerns over indecent dress codes.
Please @Educ_SportsUg, kindly put restrictions in schools for such people who go to perform while dressed in such inappropriate attires.
