Singer Eddy Kenzo, the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has thrown his support behind Gravity Omutujju's impassioned call for fellow artist Bobi Wine to donate a portion of his land at Busabala Beach for the construction of a hospital.
Gravity Omutujju, renowned for his candid nature, expressed dissatisfaction with what he perceives as Bobi Wine's failure to translate his rhetoric about improving the country's services into concrete actions. Omutujju, a prominent figure in the Ugandan music scene, criticized Bobi Wine for repeatedly lamenting about inadequate services without taking tangible steps to address them.
The outspoken artist went public, challenging Bobi Wine to donate a section of his land at Busabala Beach to establish a hospital, particularly catering to the needs of pregnant women and other vulnerable groups. This call to action has ignited discussions within Uganda's music industry and the public sphere.
Eddy Kenzo, in an interview last night, echoed his support for Omutujju's initiative, emphasizing the importance of aligning actions with advocacy. Kenzo commended the idea of Bobi Wine donating land for the construction of a hospital as a meaningful step in that direction.
While expressing his support, Kenzo also acknowledged the autonomy of Bobi Wine in the matter, highlighting that compliance with the request is not mandatory. The UNMF president underlined the significance of artists leading by example and contributing to the betterment of societal services.
Eddy Kenzo concurs with Gravity Omutujju's actions of pursuing Bobi Wine to give part of his land in Busaabala to build a hospital.
