St. Lawrence University stormed the finals for the first time on Friday 18th October, 2019 as the clash between them and Uganda Martyrs University ended in a 1:1 draw to force penalty shoot outs.
St. Lawrence University scored in the 15th minute through Misi Semugera who headed Seruwu Collin's free kick to leave the game on a 2:1 aggregate score.
However, former champions Uganda Martyrs University equalized through Kayondo Derrick in the 55th minute to level matters on a 2:2 aggregate score following a one all stalemate away week ago away at Kavule-Mpigi.
In the penalty shoot outs, St. Lawrance University won 3:2 to set up a final against Uganda Christian University.

UCU toppled the group ahead of MUBS and progressed to the quarter finals. At the quarter finals, UCU faced Busitema University who they beat 5:1 away from home and 4:0 at home to progress to the semi finals on a 9:1 aggregate score.
In the semi Finals, UCU faced Bugema University. They beat them 2:1 at home in Mukono but lost by the same score away to Bugema hence a 3:3 aggregate score and the former progressed to finals after a 4:2 penalty shoot outs score.

St. Lawrence finished second behind UMU and progressed to the quarter finals. In the quarter finals, the they faced YMCA who they beat 2:0 both home and away to progress to the semi finals. In the semi finals, SLAU faced UMU for the third and fourth time in the same campaign.
The two encounters in the group stages ended 1:1 and 2:2. The semi finals also ended in a one all stalemate for both sides home and away. A 2:2 aggregate score was followed by penalty shoot outs which St. Lawrence won 3:2 to make their maiden finals.
Both teams are playing in their first University football finals. UCU are making their fifth appearance in the competition while it is the third for St. Lawrance. The Pepsi Uganda University football league 2019 will be played on Sunday 3rd November, 2019 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
