Media personality Doreen Nasasira has weighed in on the idea of 50-50 relationships, saying she would not embrace the arrangement with a man if it only means splitting financial expenses.
According to Doreen, genuine partnership should extend beyond money to include household duties and raising children. She argued that couples should divide responsibilities at home instead of one partner carrying the bulk of domestic work simply because the other contributes financially.
“If we do 50-50 according to me, if I’m bathing the kids, you should be in the kitchen. If I’m cooking, take care of the kids and play with them.”
Doreen’s view is that financial contribution should not automatically exempt either partner from participating in family responsibilities.
She further advised men who are uncomfortable with sharing household duties to embrace the traditional provider role in their relationships.
“If you don’t want to be despised, make money as a man or stay single.”
The media personality also turned her attention to how women prepare their daughters for relationships, particularly in situations where one partner may not contribute equally to building a home.
“Train your kids how to survive with these men who are lazy and how to build them.”
Doreen additionally warned that women should be mentally prepared for the possibility that a man they have supported and helped build could eventually leave the relationship, despite the effort invested in him.
