Music promoter Musinguzi Abbey aka Abitex Promotions has officially been released from prison on court bail together with his event MC, Jjuko following earlier arrest in investigations of Freedom City stampede.
Abitex and Jjuuko were arrested in light of the Freedom city stampede before being remanded to Kitalya prison where they spent a week before returning to court for the hearing.
Earlier today, the pair was arraigned before the Makindye Court grade one magistrate Iga Adiru for their case hearing.
Abitex who was earlier charged with nine offenses of rash and negligent acts was charged with four more charges to make it 13.
The promoter and his MC, Jjuuko, are now accused with 13 charges of hasty and careless behavior that resulted in the deaths of 11 persons and injuries to two more at the Freedom City mall in Makindye-Ssabagabo.
Their sureties were also instructed to sign Shs20m non-cash bonds before being told to appear in court again on February 7, 2023.
Charging Abtex with the MC and leaving out Ssebalamu and his Freedom City mngt, the negligent police officers is selective application of the law. You can't scapegoat Abtex and the MC yet the real culprits are roaming free. Arcade owners only focus on milking money from people https://t.co/EAZzutbiQ5
