How Jinja SS, Royal College Namugongo Won Girls’ CAF African Schools Tournament OpenINGS

Following the conclusion of the CAF African Schools championship for the Boys category, the girls category also kicked off on Thursday 21st July at FUFA Technical Center Njeru, with Jinja SS and Royal College Namugongo dominating match day one.

Jinja SS beat Standard high School 7:0 whereas Royal College Namugongo beat Standard High School 5:0. Standard High School had a bad day in office having also earlier fell to a 4:0 thumping by Amus College.

Agnes Nabukenya made the day’s headlines after she scored a hat-trick as Kawempe Muslim SS came from a goal to defeat Gadafi Integrated Academy 3-1.

She had also earlier on scored a brace in the 2-1 win against Royal College, Namugongo managing 5 Goals in two games.

Action resumes on Friday with matchday two fixtures and the top two schools in each group will advance to the semifinals. Royal Giant SS Mityana Win the boys’ category after edging Dynamic SS 2:0 and will thus represent Uganda the the tournament at CECAFA level. The tournament is sponsored by CAF President Patrice Motsepe who injected in $10M for the tournament to go on.
