Royal Giants FC Wins inaugural CAF African Schools Championship-Uganda

Mityana based secondary school Royal Giants High School became the first winner of the newly introduced CAF African Schools tournament when they beat Dynamic SS 2:0.

The tournament which is sponsored by CAF President Patrice Motsepe with $10m is the first of its kind in Africa and started on Saturday 16th July at Njeru Technical center, a day after its proprietor left Uganda.

It features players aged 15 and below literally meaning S1 and S2 students are involved in the tournament. Ogema Thomas was the hero as his two goals ensured Royal Giants SS will represent Uganda at the CECAFA region from where teams to compete at the African level will be determined.

Royal Giants won the tournament unbeaten, winning all group B matches against Amus college,Dynamic Ss, St Mary’s Kitende,and Kibuli before edging Standard High Zanain Semi Finals.

Dynamic finished second with Mukono Kings taking the Bronze medals for the third place having beaten Standard High Zana.
