FUFA Clears Off All Out Standing Player Arrears to Zero Balance

The football governing body, FUFA has confirmed how they have paid off all the player arrears to zero balance and the federation is currently not indebted to any player.

“FUFA has cleared all outstanding allowances, salaries and bonuses of players and coaches of the nine National Teams to Zero balance. As of Saturday 28th May, 2022, no coach or player is owed any monies. Such a gesture calls for good results from the team while representing the country”, the FUFA statement read.

The Federation also thanked the President of the republic of Uganda YK Museveni,Minister of sports and education Janet Museveni,Minister of state for Sports Hamson Obua, Ministry of finance, the Uganda Parliament and the National Council for Sports for making sure this happened.

However, the u-20 team that reached the Africa Cup of Nations Finals in Mauritania will receive their bonuses as and when CAF releases the Funds as part of the prize monies won by Uganda at the tournament. 50% of the bonuse has already been paid to the Team delegation from FUFA sources.

For starters, Uganda will host the CECAFA Women Championship from 1st June at FUFA Technical Center Njeru. Uganda was drawn against Rwanda Burundi and Djibouti in group A whereas the other group B has Tanzania, South Sudan, Zanzibar and Ethiopia which completes an eight team tournament.

In the men’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Uganda is set to play its first qualification match against Algeria on Saturday 4th June in Algiers before hosting Niger on Wednesday 8th June at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
