The country's top flight football league, the Star Times Uganda Premier League returned from festive season recess with only three matches but with 17 goals hitting the back of the net.

Most eye-catching was the Vipers SC-UPDF FC encounter at St. Mary's Stadium Kitende that saw the former outwit the latter 7:2.

Vipers were the best side from the word go, winning the first 45 minutes with a 6:0 score courtesy of a brace from Ceaser Manzoki, a goal apiece from Milton Kaliisa, Bright Anukani, Yunus Ssentamu and debutant Emmanuel munoobi.

Bobosi Byarunga scored the last for the four time Uganda Premier League champions whereas the soldiers got only two goals from Sabir Yassin and Huud Salim.

The result shifts Vipers SC to top of the table, level on points with KCCA FC (29) but with a superior goal difference of 19:13 and with a match in hand.

The loss by UPDF continued their winless run to four, losing three and drawing one, and currently stand 7th with 18 points with two matches to end the first round.

Elsewhere, SC Villa were 4:0 winners against visitors Tooro United at Njeru Technical Center. Salim Abdullah, Kabonge Nicolas, Muhindo Benson and Goffin Oyirwoth scored the goals for the record league champions.

KCCA FC continued their draw sequence to three matches with a 2:2 stalemate away to Onduparaka FC. They also drew goalless with Express FC and 1:1 with SC Villa in the last two matches.

Match Day 13 resumes on Tuesday with three matches with Bul FC hosting Arua Hill SC, Express FC taking on Busoga United and URA FC playing at home to Wakiso Giants FC.
