The Sand Cranes safely returned home this morning of Monday 31st May from Senegal where they finished 4th in the AFCON Beach Soccer 2021.

Uganda Sand Cranes, the National Beach Soccer team was playing at its debut season that took place from 23rd-29th May,2021 at Saly Beach Soccer Stadium found in Saly south of Dakar-Senagal.

Uganda finished fourth at the tournament, managing only one win, a 4:3 win against Tanzania in the last group match. They lost the other matches, 5:1 to hosts Senegal in their group opener, 6:3 to Mozambique in the semi finals and lastly lost 5:3 to Morocco in the classification match.

FUFA promised that the 24 man squad will share UGX 185.9M as allowances, bonuses for the 22 days of camping that resulted exception performance at their debut tournament.

Senegal beat Mozambique 4:1 to finish champions and the two finalists qualified for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup to take place in August in Russia this year.
