Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) together with the Government have partially restored internet in the country following a country wide blackout since 13th January as the country was heading to Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

Prime Minister Rt Hon Dr Ruhakana Rugunda yesterday appearing on a local television said the government kept the country offline due to security threats and that they were mitigating several factors to restore the internet.

Facebook and it’s related apps, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and other apps are still still down with their fate unknown as President Yoweri Katuga Museveni relected for the 6th term said the tech giant violated laws by suspending accounts of the ruling party members.
