Iryn Namubiru appointed the Ambassador of French Language in Uganda

The French Embassy in Uganda has named legendary artist Iryn Namubiru Morel as the Ambassador of the French Language in Uganda.

The appointment happened yesterday on August 28th at the French Embassy Kampala. Iryn was unveiled along Suzan Kerunen a Ugandan world musician from the West Nile who sings in Alur-Jonam her mother language and also in English.

Unveiled by the French Ambasador in Uganda, H.E Jules-Armand Aniambossou, the two musicians are expected to help in promoting French Language and French culture in Uganda a role that they said they are ready and willing to do.

“I am very honoured and humbled to be one of the Ambassadors of the French Language in Uganda” said excited Iryn Namubiru I will play my role of promoting the French language and Culture to the best of my ability.”

The French Embassy in Uganda has of recent embarked on promoting French Language and emphasized on its teaching in Ugandan schools. The French embassy advised Ugandans to learn French since it will help Ugandans in communicating with their French speaking neighbors D.R.C, Rwanda and Burundi.

Iryn Namubiru headlined artists in June on the World Music Day at the The Fete De La Musique concert, organized by the French Embassy in Uganda and Talent Africa Group (TAG) where among other songs; she recorded and performed a pop song Comme D'habitude by Jacques Revau. Her stay in France for years and her duo French Citizenship makes her a perfect choice for this duty.

Susan Kerunen on the other hand a Ugandan artist has released various songs in various languages including English, French, Swahili and Alur. Her knowledge of French makes her a valuable asset in promoting the French Language in Uganda.
