Nyege Nyege International Music Festival (#NN20) returns to the source of the Nile river in Jinja, Uganda from 3rd to 6th September 2020; bringing its unique blend of music and arts from all corners of the continent and beyond.

The festival is now widely considered one of the most important musical gatherings of the 21st century, showcasing cutting edge performers from all over Africa and giving a real launch platform for emerging East African artists. The official program will be announced over the next months, with an emphasis on Africa and its connections to Latin America, the festival will invite artists from Brazil, Mexico, Colombia whose music directly connects with Africa. With over 100 international bookings, the last edition created many touring opportunities for artists performing at Nyege Nyege, and this year again the festival will welcome 50+ industry players who come to scope out the next big talent. Like every year, the festival aims to improve on all of its aspects, including making the festival a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

The food court will also be themed to echo the wealth of food cultures from Africa, from Zanzibar to Morocco. The festival has won the Ekhula Tourism award of the year, and is set to welcome thousands of foreign guests for the festival, creating income for many Ugandans in the process.

Nyege Nyege will continue to promote the wealth of traditional music from Uganda, highlighting it as a cultural hotspot and a strong contender to UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage program. Nyege Nyege International Music Festival is organized and curated by the Boutiq Foundation, a community based organization in Kampala, Uganda that aims to develop the local arts and culture industry by creating conducive platforms and opportunities for emerging artists.
