Tanzania’s leading talent show, Bongo Star Search (BSS), is heading to Uganda for the first time as part of its regional expansion for Season 15, aptly themed "Beyond Borders, Si Mchezo!" The much-anticipated competition aims to uncover East Africa’s next big music stars, giving aspiring Ugandan musicians a chance to shine on a grand platform.
Uganda Auditions: Your Shot at Stardom
On November 23rd and 24th, 2024, Ugandan contestants will have their shot at the spotlight with open auditions at Kati Kati Restaurant, Kampala. Doors open at 6 AM for all hopefuls eager to impress a panel of esteemed judges, including Rita Paulsen, founder of BSS, and Uganda’s own Lilian Mbabazi from Blu 3.
Successful contestants will proceed to the elimination phase in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, alongside finalists from Kenya and Tanzania. The grand finale will take place at Mlimani City on February 28, 2025, where the ultimate winner will be crowned.
A Regional Talent Search Like Never Before
Since its inception, Bongo Star Search has launched the careers of many Tanzanian artists, and this year marks a bold move to include talents from across East Africa.
“Bongo Star Search is more than a competition—it’s a celebration of East African music, culture, and creativity,” said Rita Paulsen.
