Despite him getting appointed as the new Presidential advisor, singer Eddy Kenzo has emphatically stated that he has no intention of running for any political office, now or in the future. He says that he only wants his voice to be heard thats why he accepted the office.

he star has come out to set the record straight—he’s not running for office. Despite his growing involvement in efforts to reshape the Ugandan music industry, Kenzo insists he has no plans to swap his mic for a podium anytime soon.

"I'm not a politician and don't expect me to contest for any political position," Eddy Kenzo said, putting to bed any speculation about his political aspirations.

Kenzo, along with a group of fellow artists, recently broke away from the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) to establish the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF).

This move has stirred quite a bit of drama within the entertainment world, especially from those aligned with Bobi Wine's National Unity Platform (NUP). Critics have accused Kenzo and his group of cozying up to the government, reportedly pocketing billions instead of pushing for a lasting solution like amending the copyright law.

In a move that raised eyebrows, Kenzo—who was once vocal in criticizing the government—decided to put politics aside for what he calls the greater good of the music industry. “I had to focus on benefiting the industry as a whole,” he said, adding that this led to his decision to meet with President Yoweri Museveni. Kenzo believes dialogue with the government is the only way to bring meaningful change to the industry.

“Look, I’m not here to campaign or fight anyone,” he explained. “Our goal is to unite the industry because unity gives us bargaining power. The propaganda out there is just trying to divide us, but we’re not in this out of bad faith.”
