Media personality and city socialite Faridah Nakazibwe has put UMEME on the hot seat and questioned them why her Yaka electricity keeps evaporating, using units worth 200k every after two weeks.
Taking it to her X account, Faridah put up a series of tweets that left everyone in the comment section complaining about the same thing, yaka units getting finished faster than before.
YAKA MANGU is an electricity connection program where the user uploads electricity units pre-usage, you use what you pay for.
"Dear @UmemeLtd , I need your help. How is it possible that my small household spends 200k on power for 2-3weeks? I was forced to give up on using the washing machine and the electric side of the cooker. The only electronics I use regularly are the flat iron, refrigerator, 2 tvs, bottle warmer, kettle, and lighting inside the house. Unfortunately, I have spent exactly 1.52m since 19th March 2024 to last night...on power alone. Munyambe, before I sell my X handle to cater for your bill. Thanks"- she posted.
Umeme was quick to respond, by asking for her location so that they sort out her problem, they tweeted;
"Dear Faridah, how easily can we locate your premise? "- UMEME replied.
Umeme Limited holds a 20-year Concession from the Government of Uganda, whose natural term expires on 30th March 2025.
