Singer and media personality Robert Sekidde, popularly known as Tuff B, has reportedly been put on forced leave from his role at NBS TV, a part of Next Media. Known for hosting the lively show KURT, Tuff B's recent actions seem to have ruffled some feathers at the station.

According to insider sources, Tuff B's suspension is a result of his outspoken support for the National Unity Platform (NUP) during their countrywide tour in Bundibugyo. On July 15, 2024, he took to his X platform to rally support for the NUP, posting,

“The struggle for a better Uganda is not in vain. Despite the obstacles, setbacks, and challenges, know that every effort counts and every voice matters. Continue to speak out, stand up, and push forward. The future of Uganda depends on our persistence and dedication.”

While the message resonated with many of his followers, it didn't sit well with Next Media's top brass. The network, which prides itself on maintaining a strict non-partisan policy, deemed the post a violation of their guidelines, resulting in a 10-day suspension for Tuff B.

An anonymous source from Next Media explained, “Management has always respected our right to personal associations but consistently reminded us that such connections must not compromise our professional independence or create a perception of bias.”

This isn't the first time Next Media has had to enforce its impartiality policy. Just weeks ago, Simon Kaggwa Njala, the host of NBS TV’s Morning Breeze, faced suspension for hosting a politically charged event for opposition MP Mathias Mpuuga in Masaka, which was interpreted as an endorsement.
