Since artistes under the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), it is the government that has been paying all the sleeping, eating bills until recently when they met with the ministry and now it is being stated that they want to purchase Serene Suites Mutundwe as they look forward to renovating National Theatre.

The members of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) begun this saga last year, led by Eddy Kenzo, when they approached the Ministry of Gender with a heartfelt concern.

The musicians, whose livelihoods were basing on live shows to get some kamoney claim they were brutally affected by Covid pandemic and found their stage dimmed by the heavy restrictions. Expressing their discontent, they claimed that the government had not given due priority to their artistic enterprises and sought support.

Not able to step on stage to perform, these artists put forth a specific plea for access to recording studios. Financial strains faced during the pandemic had struck a sour note, making it challenging for them to produce the symphonies that bring joy to the masses.

In a crescendo of generosity, Serene Suites Hotel extended a credit invitation to host the musicians while the government orchestrated funding for their initiatives. Recently, the Ministry of Gender found itself facing a harmonious invoice from Serene Suites Hotel, meticulously detailing the expenses incurred during the musicians' residency.

The bureaucracy did not fall on deaf ears, as the invoice moved through the corridors of power, reaching the office of the Prime Minister. Discussions, akin to a finely tuned orchestra, are currently resonating regarding the harmonious settlement of this financial duet.

In a surprising twist, UNMF members formally transcribed their desire for the government to acquire the Serene Suites Hotel, envisioning it as a permanent hub for musicians to compose their music.

Reports suggest that the government is not merely nodding in rhythm but actively considering these requests. The focal point is on the development of the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) and the broader art and entertainment industry.
