Showing solidarity, leaders of the National Unity Platform (NUP) have today gathered in Kirowooza village, Masaka City, to pay tribute to the late Frank Ssenteza, the former private bodyguard of by then, presidential candidate Bobi Wine.

The solemn occasion was marked by a memorial service to honor Ssenteza, who tragically lost his life during the tumultuous 2021 electoral campaign.

NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi, commonly known as Bobi Wine, and the newly appointed Leader of the Opposition (LOP), Joel Ssenyonyi, were captured in poignant moments during the memorial prayers at Ssenteza's home in Kirowoza. Ssenteza, a dedicated member of the NUP and Kyagulanyi's trusted bodyguard, met an untimely demise when he was allegedly struck by a military truck during the heated presidential campaigns.

The atmosphere in Kirowooza village was somber yet reflective as NUP members, along with the community, remembered the life and contributions of the late Frank Ssenteza. Police presence was notably heightened in the area during the memorial, underscoring the significance of the event.

Reflecting on the solemn occasion, a statement from the NUP read, "We're in Kirowooza, Masaka, remembering the great work comrade Frank Ssenteza did for the country and the struggle for freedom.

Frank was tragically taken from us on December 27, 2020, and today, on the third anniversary of his passing, we pray for his soul to continue resting in eternal peace."

The circumstances surrounding Ssenteza's death have been a source of ongoing investigation and contention.

The NUP continues to assert that he was deliberately targeted and fatally struck by a military vehicle, pointing to the incident as an act of violence during the electoral period.

As the nation marks the three-year anniversary of Frank Ssenteza's tragic demise, the NUP leaders remain resolute in their commitment to seeking justice and honoring the memory of a fallen comrade whose contributions to the cause are eternally remembered.
