It has been reported that the National Theatre has declined the request to bestow an honor upon the late singer and actress Evelyn Nakabira, also known as Evelyn Lagu, her body is to be immediately taken to her ancestral grounds for burial.
The entertainment industry was deeply saddened yesterday (18th Sept,) morning by the unexpected passing of Ms. Lagu, who had been struggling with heart and kidney complications for a number of years.
Following the confirmation of Ms. Lagu's passing, a meeting was promptly convened at her residence in Bujuuko, attended by notable figures in the entertainment industry such as Sophie Gombya, Bbosa Sserunkuuma, and Mesach Semakula, among others, to discuss the arrangements for her funeral.
During the meeting, it was agreed that Ms. Lagu's remains would be laid at the National Theatre for a night, to allow her fans and fellow musicians to pay their final respects.
It is hereby indicated that the physical remains of the vocalist shall remain at her residence in Bujuuko until the following day, when they will be conveyed to her ancestral interment site in Masaka. The final resting place of the deceased shall be on Wednesday.
