Media personality and DJ Sheilah Gashumba has hit back at Robert Kayanja Jr after he accused her of being a bad influence on young girls, revealing that his family allegedly paid her Shs2 million to promote a clothing brand linked to his sister.
Sheilah recalled the December 2020 engagement as she questioned why the family sought her endorsement if they believed her public image negatively influenced young women.
The exchange has intensified a growing public dispute that began after Sheilah’s father, Frank Gashumba, criticised pastors over claims of miraculous healing and practices within some churches.
Kayanja Jr attacked Sheilah over her appearance and influence, accusing her of encouraging behaviour he considers inappropriate among young women.
“I have gone to schools where you have taken your nonsense, leading girls to follow into debauchery, based on the portrayal of how you carry yourself,” he wrote.
He also described her as a “half naked DJ with no musical talent”.
In response, Sheilah said Jessica Kayanja had contacted her in December 2020 and invited her to the launch of her daughter Kristiana’s clothing line.
According to Sheilah, the invitation came with an offer of Shs2 million for her to attend the event and promote the brand on social media.
“In 2020 December, I received a call from Mrs Jessica Kayanja inviting me to the launch of her daughter Kristiana’s clothing line and that her daughter really wants me to attend the event,” Sheilah wrote.
“She has been looking for me for over a week. The invite even came with Shs2m for me to post on my socials and push her brand.”
Sheilah praised Kristiana’s work, describing her as a talented designer, but questioned the apparent contradiction between the family’s past approach to her and Kayanja Jr’s current criticism.
“Now my question to you (Kayanja Jr), if I’m misleading girls and if I portray myself in bad manner, why did my presence matter so much that day?” she asked.
“Why would your family want to affiliate her brand with mine?”
Sheilah also accused Kayanja Jr of shifting the discussion away from its original subject of miracles and turning it into a personal attack.
“The question was about miracles, when did you divert and make it personal?” she wrote.
She added that neither Kayanja Jr nor his father had been the focus when the debate began. She then advised him to control his temper if he wanted to preserve his father’s legacy.
The dispute traces back to Frank Gashumba’s challenge to pastors, prophets and apostles who claim to heal serious illnesses through miracles. He initially offered Shs200 million to any religious leader who could demonstrate miraculous healing on a critically ill patient at a major hospital, later raising the offer to Shs500 million.
Pastor Robert Kayanja subsequently rejected suggestions that his ministry stages fake miracles, insisting that healing comes from Jesus rather than pastors.
The disagreement widened after Sheilah defended her father and criticised some churches over what she described as the exploitation of poor believers, excessive tithing demands and a lack of financial transparency.
Kayanja Jr responded by defending his family’s church, pointing to its humanitarian work, support for education and accountability measures.
The exchange has since developed into a personal confrontation between Sheilah and Kayanja Jr, with the latest remarks bringing the family’s alleged 2020 business engagement into the public debate.
