Ugandan fashion entrepreneur Oscar Nyesiga, popularly known as Oscar Kampala, has earned continental recognition after being nominated for Designer of the Year at the 2026 EMY Africa Awards in Ghana.
The nomination marks another milestone for the young entrepreneur, whose luxury tailoring brand has expanded beyond Uganda into Kenya. He has also attracted attention through his ambitious 7,000 Men Movement, an initiative aimed at connecting young African entrepreneurs through networking, mentorship and economic empowerment.
The movement builds on earlier gatherings known as 300 Men and 1,000 Men. Its vision is to bring together 7,000 entrepreneurs, professionals and emerging leaders from across Africa, with a flagship gathering planned for Nairobi in 2026.
Oscar’s journey began with an interest in tailoring and menswear while he was still a teenager. He has since developed a bespoke fashion business serving professionals, entrepreneurs and prominent personalities, while pursuing a wider regional presence.
His EMY Africa nomination places him alongside Kenneth Tetteh, Kenneth Ize, IB Kamara and Atto Andoh in the Designer of the Year category.
The 11th EMY Africa Awards are scheduled for November 21, 2026, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana. The awards recognise achievement, leadership, creativity and contributions to society across Africa.
For Oscar, the nomination highlights his work in fashion, while his 7,000 Men initiative reflects his broader ambition to use entrepreneurship and professional networks to create opportunities for young Africans.
