Islamic Singer Swahaba Kasumba shocked many after publicly renouncing Islam, the religion he says he has practiced since childhood, and fully embracing traditional healing practices, commonly known as “Busamize.”
In the ceremony that has since gone viral online, Kasumba officially dropped the name Swahaba Kasumba and adopted a new one called Kasumba Bamweyana Lubowa.
Speaking openly about the decision, Kasumba said returning to a mosque is no longer an option for him. According to him, doing so would attract severe punishment from his new spiritual leaders.
The move has caught many by surprise, especially fans and people who knew him as a committed Muslim for years. Even those close to him reportedly did not see the change coming.
Kasumba says he is starting the new year with a “clean slate” in his new faith and believes this new chapter will bring him more fulfillment and purpose than before.
