A new tech innovation called ProofPing, a personal safety and emergency alert mobile app, has officially launched in Uganda and East Africa, promising to make sure “someone always has your back.”
The app was unveiled during a press conference in Kampala, bringing together tech players, government stakeholders and media to introduce what developers are calling a game-changing safety solution.
So what exactly is ProofPing?
This App is simple but powerful. Users receive a daily reminder to tap “I’m Good.” If they don’t respond within a set time, the app automatically alerts emergency contacts by sending their exact location without the user having to press any panic button.
No calls. No SOS button. Just silence triggering action.
Speaking to the press, it was revealed that the app is designed around the idea that when something is wrong, people often can’t reach out so the system reacts when you don’t.
It also comes packed with features like a medical info vault for first responders, real-time location alerts, travel mode for people moving alone, and a dashboard where loved ones can monitor check-ins.
Behind the innovation is Ugandan founder Isaac Mutabazi, who says the idea was inspired by real-life struggles faced by families separated by distance.
“Families go weeks without knowing if their loved ones are safe… sometimes they never find out. I built ProofPing because no one should have to wait for news that never comes,” he said.
The app is targeting a wide audience from Ugandans working in the Middle East to diaspora communities in Europe, the US and Canada, as well as elderly relatives and people living alone back home.
Globally, over one billion people are said to live in social isolation, a gap ProofPing is trying to bridge using simple tech.
The app is already available for download on both Play Store and App Store, with a free version and premium subscription options offering more features like multiple emergency contacts and SMS alerts.
With more Ugandans embracing digital solutions, ProofPing is entering the market at a time when safety, connectivity and peace of mind are more important than ever.
