Shock and concern have gripped the media fraternity after Metro FM’s journalist Arnold Anthony was reportedly abducted shortly after hosting a radio show in Kampala.
The incident happened around 1:00 PM on Sunday outside Metro FM 90.8 in Old Kampala, moments after Anthony had gone on air to discuss the recently quashed Computer Misuse (Amendment) Act 2022.
Anthony is among the individuals who challenged the controversial law in the Constitutional Court, which ruled against it earlier this month on March 17, 2026.
According to reports, unknown individuals picked him up immediately after the show, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
The Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) has since condemned the incident, describing it as an unlawful attack on press freedom.
The association is now demanding his immediate and unconditional release, warning that such actions create fear within the media industry.
Journalists, activists, and members of the public have also taken to social media to raise alarm, calling for Anthony’s safety and accountability from authorities.
As of Sunday evening, police had not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
The development adds to growing concerns over the safety of journalists in Uganda, especially those involved in sensitive legal and political discussions.
