Ugandans are gearing up for a high-profile charity run organized in honor of Muhoozi Kainerugaba as he celebrates his 52nd birthday for an event scheduled for April 26 at Kololo Independence Grounds, but not everyone is cheering.

Dubbed the “Gen MK 52nd Birthday Run,” Organizers say the run will raise funds for orphans and vulnerable children, with participation kits going for UGX 20,000 and additional contributions expected through mobile donations.

“Run for Charity, Run for Hope” with another rallying call pushing “One Uganda, One Finish Line.”

Supporters are already hyping it as more than just a birthday celebration.

They say the run has become a youth-driven, unifying activity, blending fitness, patriotism, and charity with Muhoozi himself expected to lead from the front.

But as excitement builds, criticism is also growing.

Some voices including outspoken commentator Jim Spire Ssentongo are questioning why state media and security institutions are heavily involved in promoting what they view as a personal event.

Critics argue this reflects misplaced priorities, especially at a time when many Ugandans are facing economic pressure.

Still, organizers insist the cause is bigger than politics  pointing to the direct impact on children in need as justification for the scale and visibility of the run.
