Fresh artist Ssengo Brian, popularly known as Crypto Arch UG, is turning a deeply personal childhood experience into music with his new single “Matalitha Koum,” a song inspired by growing up after his parents separated when he was just three years old.
Speaking to Blizz Uganda team, Brian opens up and says his father raised him alone, taking him from Mubende to Kampala and supporting him through childhood despite the absence of his mother.
He describes growing up with many unanswered questions and says his personal experience eventually found meaning in the biblical story of Mark 5:41, where Jesus tells a young girl, “Talitha Koum” — “Little girl, arise.”
According to the artist, the scripture became a source of strength and inspired him to turn his experience into a song.
“Matalitha Koum” is not intended as a love song. Brian describes it as an emotional healing song aimed at children and young people who have experienced broken homes, separation and the challenges that can come with growing up without both parents.
The artist says he hopes the song can speak to young people who may feel overlooked, wounded or uncertain because of their family experiences.
The cover for “Matalitha Koum” has already been released, while the official song is scheduled to drop in mid-October 2026 after Brian completes his first-semester examinations.
Born around the Rwenzori Mountains in Bundibugyo District, Brian has a Munyoro father and a Mugwisi mother from Bwamba.
He attended Stella Maris Junior School, where he completed Primary Seven in 2017, before joining Mityana Modern Secondary School for O’Level. He later pursued A’Level studies in PAM, ICT and GP.
Brian is currently studying VFX and Animation at Victoria University in Kampala and began his music journey in 2022.
With “Matalitha Koum,” the young artist is hoping to transform a difficult chapter of his childhood into a message of healing and encouragement for others who have grown up in similar circumstances.
