Shortly after the new Tooro Kingdom leadership team announcing that Omukama Rukidi Nyabongo‘s Birthday run proceeds are going to be used to build a Memorial Foundation for the Late King Oyo, his sister Princess Ruth Komuntale has dismissed the claims.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the princess clarified that no official launch date has been announced and that the foundation is exclusively managed by members of the immediate royal family and close friends serving on its board.
She said the idea was initially introduced in a statement by the Queen Mother, accusing some individuals of attempting to take over the initiative to gain publicity.
Komuntale urged the public to remain vigilant and follow the family’s verified platforms for official information about the foundation and its eventual launch.
In her full statement, she wrote:
“On behalf of the family of my brother, King Oyo, we wish to make it absolutely clear that no official launch date has been released or shared for the King Oyo Memorial Foundation.
“Anyone claiming to be in charge of the launch or management of the Memorial Foundation is running a hoax and distributing false information for personal gain. The foundation is exclusively managed by our immediate family and close friends who serve on the board.
“The concept of the King Oyo Memorial Foundation was initially introduced in my mother’s (the Queen Mother’s) statement. It is deeply unfortunate that self-seeking individuals are attempting to hijack this idea simply to keep the spotlight on themselves.
“When the launch date is officially set in stone, this platform will be among the first verified channels where you will see the information. Thank you for your vigilance and continued support.”
