R&B singer Maro, real name Ronald Magada, has revealed that his father played a major role in his decision to leave Bobi Wine’s Firebase Crew, owing to misconceptions about the group’s lifestyle.
Maro joined the music industry in 2010 and gained recognition through his breakthrough song Toneeraga, featuring Mikie Wine and Empress under Firebase Crew. He says the song opened doors for him, attracting more fans and creating opportunities for further collaborations with Mikie Wine.
However, his time with the crew was short-lived. Maro later left Firebase and joined Aziz Azion’s Westend Entertainment.

Speaking during an interview with Sanyuka TV, the singer explained that his father often questioned his association with the group, believing its name was linked to smoking and a wayward lifestyle.
Maro said his father struggled to understand that the members lived differently from the image he had formed of them. He cited Mikie Wine as an example, saying the singer did not drink alcohol despite the assumptions people might make about him.
