The body of the late Tooro King, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, has arrived at Entebbe International Airport from the United States, where President Yoweri Museveni and other dignitaries received the remains.
Following the ceremony at Entebbe, the casket is being transported to Kyegegwa Airstrip before proceeding by road through Kyenjojo and Kabarole to Fort Portal.
The procession will give Batooro and other mourners along the route an opportunity to pay their final respects to the 34-year-old monarch. From Fort Portal, the body will be taken to Karuziika Palace, where it will lie in state during the kingdom’s nine-day mourning period known as Okugaragara.
King Oyo is scheduled to be buried at the Karambi Royal Tombs on September 12, 2026, exactly 31 years after his coronation.
