Why Neymar’s football career may be deterred by misfortunes and indiscipline

Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, commonly known as Neymar is one of the current generation’s talented footballers that seemed to join the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.

However, the Brazil international has for recent been affected by injuries, indiscipline cases and rape allegations.

The PSG forward got injured on Wednesday 5 June 2019 in Brazil’s 2-0 win over 2022 world cup hosts Qatar.

The 27 year old forward left the pitch 21 minutes into the first half after rupturing the ligament in his right ankle. According to the tests made after the occurance of this injury, the star will miss the 46th edition of Copa America scheduled to commence on 14th June 2019 when hosts Brazil play Bolivia.

The former Barcelona star was according to CBF vice president Francisco Novelito going to miss the tournament because of the allegations that he raped a woman, which Neymar denies.

Najila Trindade, accuses Neymar of raping her and appeared on Brazil TV to give more clarity on the issue. She told SBT Brasil the incident in a Paris hotel on 15 May was “an assault together with rape”.

Neymar has of recent been stripped off the captaincy role at the national team sighting indiscipline reasons that always bring him into loggerhead with his fellow players.

Neymar also had a difficult tenure last season with PSG with injuries denying him many matches including their encounter with Man Utd in champions league which united won. He scored only 23 coal in all completions.

His move from Barcelona to PSG was itself a misfortune as he left a team that would make him weigh enough to compete for Balloon d’or. The league itself is very weak to make him count for the accolade. More so the most recent eleven balloon d’or winners were from a ligi he left for Ligi 1

All the above incidents point to the fact that Neymar’s football success may be deterred by indiscipline and Misfortunes.
