Dr Stella Nyanzi was today sentenced to 8 months in prison after being found guilty of cyber harassment when she, in 2018 posted on Facebook a vulgar birthday poem dedicated to President Yoweri Museveni and his late mother Esteri Kokundeka.
In the poem, Stella used very crude language that left many people shocked. So today she was sent to jail after the judge noted that she has not shown any remorse or learnt her lesson. Meanwhile during the sentencing, Stella destroyed the equipment that was being used to livestream the proceedings from Luzira, undressed and once again nawemula buli omu.
She also told the judge that indeed she wanted to offend the President and did not regret anything she said about him and his dead mother.
Yesterday during her conviction, Nyanzi said she did not want any leniency from the court as her intention was to offend the President and his dead mother. The magistrate also warned that cyber harassment is on the rise and this was to serve an example of those who do so.
